By the time school starts, most parents are drained, stressed, and ready for a moment of quiet they won't have to schedule around anyone else.
Back-to-school season is full of pressure. There are early mornings, long supply lists, kids that don't want summer to end, and chaotic schedules. While parents focus on making sure everyone else is taken care of, they often leave themselves out of the equation.
That’s where you come in.
If you’re a massage therapist, this time of year is more than just a quiet season between summer vacations and holiday gift cards - it’s an opportunity to support your clients when they need it most.
Let’s talk about how to market around this season in a way that’s caring, strategic, and doesn't add pressure to your schedule.
You’ve probably noticed parents reschedule more, clients seem more frazzled, and your books dip a bit while clients shift into new routines.
After weeks or months of putting everyone else first, your clients are ready to come back to themselves, and they need to. You can help them do that.
Promoting back-to-school services isn’t about selling. It’s about reminding people that they matter, too.
You don't need a flashy promotion. In fact, a softer approach usually lands better. Here are some ideas to consider:
Gift cards are a great gift idea for teachers! And if you plan to attend or create an event where you hand out water bottles, be sure to attach your business card or create a branded label. Most communities have drives for school supplies. Before the first day of school, you could host a drive and give coupons for every backpack of supplies donated. It's a great way to get visibility and partner with your local schools.
Whatever you end up doing, make it simple so it’s easy to say yes.
If you wait until school starts, you’ve already missed your window of opportunity.
Plan to launch your campaign in late July, with the biggest push happening in the first two weeks of August. That gives parents time to schedule a session once the kids are back to school and use the massage as a reset before fall.
Not sure how to pace it? I created a 3-week back-to-school promo checklist you can use as a guide. It includes content suggestions, a timeline, and caption ideas.
Your clients don't need more pressure. They need permission.
Here are a few tone-aligned lines you can use or adapt that hits on pain points they've been having:
Keep your messaging warm, simple, and clear.
Want to lower marketing costs and boost your visibility? Partner with another business:
This not only splits the cost of flyers, email promotions, or social graphics, it also helps you reach an audience that already values wellness and self-care.
Back-to-school is chaotic and noisy, but your marketing doesn’t have to be. It can be just be a thoughtful reminder passed between people who care.
As a therapist, you've held space for so many people. During back-to-school season, your marketing can be another way to do just that. Don’t think of it as filling your books. You’re offering people a way back to themselves.
The work we do as therapists matters. And promos you do during this season will definitely matter to those who are feeling the weight of it.
Need help writing your captions or building your campaign? I offer custom promo packages for therapists who want to market without burning out.
